The SuperStock Story

Early years in RC Racing
Tomas Buratovich entered the RC scene in the year 2000 with a HPI RS4 nitro car. He began racing at a local track at Condell Park, NSW Australia which was built each race day with heavy ropes in a large multi netball court area. Since then, this club has ceased to exist, but these netball courts still exist today if anyone is interested in recommencing a club on these courts ;)

From the first race day, the racing bug hit! and in a few months he was racing at the famous John Grant International Raceway run by the NSWRCRCC club. Tomas predominantly ran nitro at this track from 2000 to 2009 whilst also racing EP onroad at the Tempe SMA track, and the Eastern Creek EP onroad track run by Steve Burgess. During this period of RC, Tomas was a hobbyist rather than a serious racer with his focus predominantly being on fun club days and some sanctioned events but never really any focus on learning the art of setup. In 2009 Tomas left RC as he had to move to rural Australia to commence a psychology internship post university.

The dark years: The non RC years, 2009 to 2020

From 2009 to 2020 Tomas was not racing RC except for a short return to nitro onroad around 2011 to 2012 where he competed (poorly!) in the Victorian state titles at the Lillydale track. He continued to keep an eye on RC through these years but other hobbies such as graffiti, music editing, video editing and a short stint running a rural radio station focusing on hip hop and grime as well as being an active support member in the Red and Black Bloc for the Wanderers FC club in Sydney took over.

The birth of the SuperStock brand

SuperStock began simply as a random sketch of a logo on photoshop around 2018 when Tomas was in the hot hatch car scene with his Ford Fiesta ST. it was a janky looking logo and didn't really flow right, but the idea was there and with the help of a graphic designer it was refined to what it is today. here is the original logo sketches below

In 2019 Tomas began his own psychology company, Psychology Services NSW and in August 2020 the SuperStock brand became a registered business with an idea to create automotive based mental health content for men. His main Psychology business took a lot of his time and the SuperStock media company took a back seat but the brand lived on with an attempt to make things happen with an instagram page. Here below is a screenshot of the first few posts ever made. As the realisation set in that running a media company concurrently with a growing psychology company wasn't going to be possible, the SuperStock insta page ultimately became a place where Tomas shared his political opinions. In 2024, like many other pages at this time, instagram shut down the superstockaus page due to posts made that criticized the israeli government and its military actions in Gaza

Covid, reminiscing and watching Ryan Stiles Harris videos on YouTube!

With covid giving him time to reminisce about RC, and a vintage RC collection bug biting hard, Tomas reentered RC after watching multiple YouTube episodes by Ryan Stiles Harris and his offroad exploits. in his reentry to RC, His focus this time, was to learn the art of setup, race craft and to be as competitive as possible. After a short time in offroad, he returned to his first love in RC, onroad racing. He dabbled in nitro for a short while but after buying an Xray X4'22 edition and entering the NSW state titles at PDNR, memories of racing EP onroad with the TRF415MSXX, HPI Pro 4, HotBodies Cyclone and Xray T1 came flooding back. The bug hit again, just like all those years ago in Condell Park! SuperStock Media soon became a silent wish to turn into a hobby store. in 2021, stickers of the SuperStock logo were made up via Jeff Hamon at JSpec Stickers & designs and the wish for a hobby shop silently lived on with the brand residing on his RC shells

SuperStock, the Hobby store, begins it's development!

In March 2025, the dream started to form into a reality. After many years of thinking about what he would do if he had a store and how he would do it, the machinations of starting a store began. Tomas spoke to various people in the hobby industry to get an understanding of how the industry works. He also spoke with Tony McMahon regarding website design. Tony provided a ton of support and his generosity cannot be ignored. In an effort to avoid "analysis paralysis" Tomas jumped into the deep end, bought stock, and started building the site on his own. A site was finalised and launched, but after 30 minutes, issues were evident. After being inspected by Tony McMahon, the verdict was given; The site was riddled with coding bugs. So Tomas began again focused now on achieving a design site closer to what he originally envisaged. After a few months of effort, the new site was finished and you are now surfing it live.

Goals for the future
The aim for SuperStock is to be a leader in RC culture, a brand that defines and celebrates the emotions we feel in this hobby, a creator of memorable RC imagery, a unique and fresh perspective to marketing, the shopping experience and to find a way to combine multiple aspects of various different sub cultures into the RC experience. We aim to design and develop our own ground breaking brands that create a new way for the RC culture to express itself, by developing brands that are industry or cultural leading, driven by a clear emotion and brand identity and passionately promoting the hobby in our unique ways to current and new audiences. As the brand evolves and grows, a longer term aim is for SuperStock to be a shopping experience that is available to mainstream audiences with a brand that creates a distinct emotion that new shoppers to RC can immediately feel drawn into and reflects a personal style unique to SuperStock. SuperStock's longer term goals will be to make new and existing consumers feel that a broader, greater and "Big Dreams" type mission are driving the brand and that we are a brand with a strong sense of direction and an unshaking dedication to succeed. We are influenced by the dreamers who are also the doers, like RC Maker, RC Race Media, Red RC, No Name Podcast, TITC, ETS, ToniSport, Hobby Wing, Cayote, the modern, innovative Chinese commerce space, the Japanese brands rooted in a strong history of identity, tenacity and passion, Awesomatix, Mugen Seiki, Scott Ernst and many others. We are not naive and know that these mission statements and goals will take either; time, huge capital, or both, but with perseveration, almost anything can be done, as long as time is on our side.

This is SuperStock. Like. No. Other.
